Business Checking What’s required to apply for a Business Checking account?

Applying for Bluevine Business Checking is fast, easy, and secure—whether you’re a sole proprietorship, corporation, or partnership.

What you need to apply

Before we get into which documents you’ll need to submit, let’s make sure you select the correct entity type for your business.

  • Sole proprietorship: An unincorporated business with one owner who pays personal income tax on profits earned from the business.
  • Corporation, LLC, or LLP: A business with limited liability for its owner(s). Personal assets are legally separate from business assets.
  • Partnership: A business with multiple owners who share profits, debt, and tax liabilities.

Choose your entity type

PART 1: First, tell us about your business.

DBA name
Please provide your “Doing Business As” name as registered in your county. If you don’t have a registered DBA name, your checking account will be opened under your legal business name.

Address and phone number
We’ll also need your business’ physical location and primary phone number. If you work out of your home, you can give us your home address and phone number. We cannot accept Registered Agent addresses or P.O. boxes, and they’ll prevent you from opening your account.

Industry
Bluevine Business Checking is a great fit for all kinds of businesses. However, we cannot open a checking account for businesses in any of our restricted industries.

Tax ID/EIN or SSN
If you have a unique Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Employer identification Number (EIN), please provide it during the application process. You may also use your personal Social Security Number (SSN) if you don’t have a unique EIN/TIN from the IRS. Currently, we only allow your SSN to be registered with one account at a time.

Annual revenue
What we’re looking for here is your company’s annual gross revenue (that is, total revenue before taxes and other expenses are taken out). This figure helps us determine what types of financial advice, products, and tools may best serve your needs.

How should I estimate this for a brand new business?
If you’re just starting out, this will be your best estimate and goal for year one. You can use this estimate to set targets for monthly expenses and manage cash flow.
PART 2: Great, now tell us about yourself.

Name, home address, and phone number
Please provide your full legal name and personal phone number. Your home address may differ from the physical address where you operate your business. Be sure to include your apartment or suite number if applicable.

This information helps us identify you and can also be selected as the mailing address for your Bluevine Business Debit Mastercard® for activation.

Date of birth and SSN
We’ll use your date of birth and SSN to confirm your identity. Your information is encrypted and securely sent via our application system.

PART 3: You may also be asked to provide…

Photo of your driver’s license
You’ll want to make sure your license is still valid and matches the information you’re providing us. Also, try to take the photo in an area with good lighting so all details are visible—and be sure all four corners are showing.

Doing Business As, Assumed, Fictitious, or Trade Name Certificate
This is the document you used to register your DBA/Trade name in your county.
Please note: The title of this document may vary by state, so please contact your county or state to make sure you have the correct form.
